The scholarship, which is being donated by Cong. REX GATCHALIAN, Representative of the 1st District of Valenzuela City, Metro Manila, shall take effect on the first semester of Academic Year 2008-2009.
A. QUALIFICATIONS: An applicant for the scholarship shall have the following qualifications:
- 1. must have passed the UPCAT, or if already enrolled, must have pass all courses taken in the previous semester; 2. must be residents of the 1st district of Valenzuela City;
B. BENEFITS: Semestral benefits of P25,000.00 per semester (P50,000.00 per year)
C. TERMS: 1. The scholarship is renewable every semester until the recipient finishes his/her degree ourse provided he/she satisifies the following conditions:
- a. must have passed all subjects enrolled in the preceding semester. Any grade of “4.00” or “inc.” must be removed or completed on or before the last day of registration of the following semester; b. must not have been the subject of any disciplinary action; c. must not shift to another course or go on leave of absence without prior approval from the Office of Scholarships and Student Services.
2. If a scholar fails to meet the requirement or obtains a failing grade in the semester he/she is currently enrolled, the scholarship shall be “ipso facto” terminated. However an awardee may be reinstated in the semester immediately following the disqualification if he/she meets the requirement stated in C(1 a-c) during the period he/she was disqualified. Reinstatement shall be allowed only once.
D. FINANCING: The initial amount of P1,000,000.00 covered by SARO No. ROCS-08-04484 with TOR No. 2008-131 dated June 25, 2008 was remitted to the University for the purpose of implementing the scholarship program. The succeeding yearly amount of P1,000,000.,, shall be remitted to the University through the Priority Development Assistance Fund allocation of the Honorable Rex Gatchalian in June for each academic year for the duration of the scholarship grant.
E. OTHER CONDITIONS: In the event the donor decides to discontinue the scholarship, it is understood that the donor will continue to support existing scholar/s until graduation or unless disqualified from the grant for failure to meet the terms for renewal.
F. ADMINISTRATION: The Office of Scholarships and Student Services shall administer the scholarship grant.
